Reasons to Love Living in New York City
All the reasons to Love Living in New York City
Here are all the reasons to love living in New York City. Living in Manhattan did not come easy for me. It took awhile for the city to grow on me and for me to appreciate all of its quirks. But now that I’ve been here for a little over a year, I thought I would share all the great things about living here.
1. It is possible to easily walk to work.
I know this is not applicable to everyone, given where ones office might be and how much rent they can afford, but Manhattan is extremely walkable. A 20 minute walk here and no one would bat an eye, try that in a suburb.
2. Endless delivery options and hours for meals and snacks and even alcohol.
Yes, you can get alcohol delivered here in under an hour. While not everywhere delivers and not everywhere is open 24/7, there is still a very broad selection.
3. The Holidays!
The holidays here are amazing. I think it is what makes living here worth it to out up with the cold weather. The cold doesn’t feel so bad when Fifth Avenue is decorated with Christmas lights, ice skating rink are everywhere and you can turn a corner and end up at a small Christmas market. It is also the perfect time to host a friendsgiving.
4. The Parks
People here actually utilize the public parks and there are so many of them and they are so nice. Central Park, Washington Square Park and the Hudson River Park, just to name a few favorites.
5. The Ferries
Staten Island Ferry because it is free and the NYC ferry to Rockaway because it’s affordable (the price of a subway ticket), fun, and they have rosè on tap.
6. Bars open until 4am.
Not like it’s ever a good idea to stay out that late, but it’s nice to have the option.
I had never experienced fall until I moved to New York. I never understood what all the hype was about. The west coast doesn’t get a proper fall season. But now it is arguably my favorite season of all. I also love how so many people decorate their stoops, balconies or apartment windows, especially with festive autumn decorations.
8. The small of chestnuts roasting on the streets.
I don’t know where else you could experience this and the smell is something that I had never experienced before coming to New York.
