I’m loving trying out new recipes in the Instant Pot. There is a reason why everyone raves about how great it is. It makes perfect soft-boiled eggs, amazing chicken and plenty of delicious pasta. But, I really want to try out some of the craziest Instant Pot recipes.
Everyone knows that the Instant Pot can cook a hunk of meat in under an hour. That it can have dried beans soaked and cooked in 45 minutes.
It can make an amazing mac and cheese, like this:
Or some delicious Bucatini Amatriciana, which I had never even heard of before looking for some Instant Pot recipes.
But, I’ve seen a few recipes for desserts and other out of the box meals. I want to try out some of the craziest Instant Pot Recipes.
Here is a list of some of the craziest Instant Pot Recipes that I want to try:
Craziest Instant Pot Recipes for Breakfast
Giant Pancakes from Kirbie Cravings: I have had a hankering for pancakes lately and since every discussion around what to make to eat centers around if it could be made in the Instant Pot it seems only fitting that the Instant Pot is indeed capable of making pancakes. The added bonus being that they are giant pancakes which just adds to the fun of it.
Quick Bagels from Cooking With Karli: I’ve made bagel a handful of times. The first time I made bagels took a full 24 hours from start to finish with all the waiting and steps involved. They were delicious. Homemade bagels are amazing but depending on the recipe, they can be quite the labor of love. Knowing that the Instant Pot can help speed up the process of bagels is incredibly exciting!
Banana French Toast from Living Locurto: French Toast?! In the Instant Pot?! The versatility of the appliance continues to blow my mind. So do the creative recipe creators behind these amazing creations! This french toast looks sooo good.
Eggs Benedict from The Foodie and The Fix: Okay, so it is mostly just the poached egg in this recipe that is made in the Instant Pot but it is still amazing that this machine can make a perfect poached egg!
Craziest Instant Pot Recipes for Dinner
Crab Legs! from Pressure Luck. I mean, it never even crossed my mind that I could cook crab legs in my kitchen ever. The fact that you can make them in the Instant Pot is mind blowing. Next time I get a craving for some seafood I’ll have to try some crab legs in my Instant Pot.
Salmon from Super Healthy Kids: Fish in the Instant Pot. That has never crossed my mind before. It’s also great because you can go from frozen to having dinner done in 10 minutes through the power of the Instant Pot.
Ramen from The Spicy Aaron: Traditional ramen takes hours upon hours to make. The fact that something that typically takes so many hours can cook in twenty minutes is mind-boggling.
Authentic Pho from I Am a Food Blog: Like ramen, I think it is so surprising that you can make this in the Instant Pot. The Instant Pot really opens up so many possibilities to try out so many different recipes.
Cornbread from The Foodie Eats: I have a friend that would think making cornbread in anything other than a well-seasoned cast iron skillet is blasphemy. It’s one of the reasons why this is on my list of craziest Instant Pot recipes. I’m not really sure where it fits in as a category, but I’m sure it would make a nice side dish for dinner.
Craziest Instant Pot Recipes for Dessert
Cheesecake from Delish: I still think it’s crazy that you can make a whole cake in a machine that is mostly known from cooking rice, beans and meat. It’s almost like the possibilities are endless. I think it’s extra fascinating since almost all baking has traditionally needed to be done in the oven.
Key Lime Pie from Living Sweet Minutes: Like what? A key lime pie made in a pressure cooker. What is this crazyness? I can’t believe that an Instant Pot can do all these things. Baking a key lime pie in the traditional way would terrify me. But, when I know it can be made in the Instant Pot, it automatically seems like it would be the simplest thing in the world to whip.
Chocolate Lava Cake from Favorite Family Recipes: My mom used to make me chocolate lava cake all the time when I was in high school. It’s one of my favorite desserts. But, I discovered early one that I did not have a knack for baking like she did. She even wrote about how bad I was at baking in one of my birthday cards. I would never dream of being able to make a proper chocolate lava cake. Of course, that’s all changed with the Instant Pot. I think I could make some chocolate lava cakes now.
Creme Brulee from A Mindful Mom: This was another thing that I thought I would only ever order at a restaurant. And I recently got a blow torch so now I would even be able to caramelize the sugar on top of the creme brulee properly. It’s almost like it’s fate.
Craziest Instant Pot Recipes for Drinks
Pumpkin Spice Cider from Pressure Luck: There is no way I am not making this come autumn. How exciting to get to be basic without even having to go to Starbuck. 🙂 This would also be a great drink to serve for a Halloween Party or Friendsgiving.
Limoncello from Prarie Californian: Lemons, liquor, cocktails, and the Instant Pot. My mind is blown by all the things an Instant Pot can do.
White Hot Chocolate from Traditional Cooking School: I got really excited when I saw this recipe because White Hot Chocolate was my drink of choice before I started drinking coffee. If you have never had White Hot Chocolate, be warned that it is insanely sweet.
Final Thoughts on the Craziest Instant Pot Recipes
The versatility of the Instant Pot is undeniable. It’s ability to make such a wide range of food and to bring recipes that are often not easy to make accessible to anyone who has an Instant Pot has been an interesting trend to watch unfold.
Personally, I think the Instant Pot is great. I would especially recommend it to my friends who live in New York. New York apartments are notorious for having tiny kitchens. Like, only 12 inches of counter space tiny. And in the humid summer, with not all buildings having air conditioning, many people refuse to turn on their stove.
Given that the Instant Pot can saute, roast, and bake makes it’s versatility all the more useful. And it’s just one appliance that you have to store in your tiny kitchen.
Have you tried some of these recipes already? Any catch your eye? Any crazy Instant Pot recipes that I’ve missed? I would love to hear your thoughts 🙂
